The National Sales Manager will lead the HC21 Medical commercial function across the UK, owning the performance of the Sales Team.


This is a high‑impact, people‑focused leadership role, accountable for driving sustainable revenue growth, strong pipeline delivery, and strategic market expansion, whilst continually building the capability, engagement, and effectiveness of every individual in the team.


A core part of the role is to embed a high‑performance culture built on accountability, motivation, and continuous learning, providing the support and direction needed to shape this new team so that every member grows in confidence, develops their skills, and fulfils their potential.


As a key member of the Management Team and wider HC21 Group, the National Sales Manager will be expected to role‑model HC21’s values, inspire others, and contribute to shaping the company’s long‑term success.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies:

Commercial Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop, implement and manage the pipeline and sales delivery.

  • Drive the achievement of annual sales revenue, profit margin and product‑specific targets.

  • Present performance updates, pipeline metrics, forecasts and strategic recommendations at management meetings.

  • Conduct ongoing market intelligence gathering, tracking competitor activity, industry shifts, and NHS market behaviour to inform commercial decision‑making.

  • Conduct structured onetoones, performance reviews, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and field visits to assess capability, provide feedback and set development goals.

  • Create personalised development plans for each team member, ensuring continuous improvement in skills, behaviours, and commercial competence.

  • Coach individuals to improve objection handling, negotiation, opportunity management, customer engagement and commercial planning.

  • Promote open communication, idea‑sharing and cross‑functional collaboration to support a positive, accountable, and high‑performing team environment.

  • Address people‑related concerns professionally in collaboration with HR, ensuring alignment to policies and employment standards.

  • Champion HC21 values, ensuring the team embodies responsibility, accountability, integrity, and customer focus.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Review all sales data, pipeline health and forecasting metrics across territories.

  • Create contingency plans to mitigate shortfalls and maximise opportunities.

  • Prepare business cases for additional resources or investments, ensuring clear rationale and return‑on‑investment analysis.

  • Oversee stock availability and work with supply partners to ensure adequate product volumes aligned with commercial strategy.

  • Work with the HC21 finance team to analyse net profitability of the business.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with key suppliers, customers and NHS Supply Chain supporting longterm partnerships and commercial alignment.

  • Work with Business Development Director to develop into new therapy areas and work with exciting new Suppliers in the on-boarding process which includes supporting business plans.

People Leadership, Coaching & Performance Management

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership to the commercial team, ensuring clarity of purpose,accountability, and high engagement levels.

  • Lead, develop and support this new team which shows high potential and a great culture.

  • Drive a performance‑focused culture in which the commercial team members consistently meet or exceed targets, supported by clear expectations and proactive coaching.

Key Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience demonstrating a proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a commercial team, balancing high performance expectations with strong coaching capability.

  • Deep experience in UK healthcare markets, including experience in the Ventilation market and NHS procurement pathways and clinical stakeholder management.

  • Strong commercial instincts with high-level financial and analytical capability.

  • Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills across all stakeholder levels.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into actionable commercial plans.

  • Selfmotivated with strong organisational skills, problemsolving ability, and emotional intelligence.

  • Processdriven with acute attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Proven successful experience in a commercial role within MedTech or the wider healthcare industry.

  • Demonstrable success in leading teams to exceed commercial targets and driving sustained performance improvement.

  • Comfortable with national travel, overnight stays and occasional international trips for supplier engagement or congresses.

  • Ability to manage pressure, deadlines and changing priorities with professionalism and resilience.

  • Full UK driving license and adherence to DBS requirements (where applicable).

  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours when business needs dictate.
